At night Louis builds digital products for fun. Currently his main side hustle is AudioPen.

AudioPen is an AI powered voice to text tool that converts rambling thoughts into structured text that easy to read and ready to share.

I started building the product in March 2023, and it also went live in March 2023 🙂

I charge an annual fee for access to the tool. Non recurring. Currently $99 per year. Revenue is in the range of $12-15K per month.

Growing AudioPen

I don’t focus on marketing at the moment, to my own detriment. I’m a one person team, so I only have the ability to focus on one thing at a time. For me right now, that is product.

I have done a little bit of marketing previously though.

It took me about two days to get to the first 100 paying customers, since I was building it in public on X. I have a decent audience of 10k plus followers because I’ve been building stuff for a while.

I’ve also been fortunate to have word of mouth work quite well for me so far. But I don’t want to take that for granted.

I briefly flirted with paid TikTok influencer marketing. Most expensive mistake of my life. No increase in traffic whatsoever during that phase. Spent about $7k. Never again.

I will eventually get to marketing once the product matures a little more.
